Chinatown Fair's Legacy to Live On in Arcade Movie

Written by

It wasn't too long ago that the news of Chinatown Fair's closing spread like wildfire. At first it was rumored, then it was confirmed, then it was denied but eventually, the inevitable happened and the famed arcade lost its lease. Many claim that it was the last bastion of the East Coast fighting game community. But although it may no longer be there, it will always live on in our memories. Not only, that but you can be a part of keeping that memory alive with an upcoming documentary. Check out the trailer below!

Arcade: The Last Night At Chinatown Fair is a feature length documentary that captures the last week in the life of the historic arcade. Arcade is an ambitious yet necessary project in capturing a side of the city that we are rapidly losing. The film is being directed by Kurt P. Vincent and produced by Irene K. Chin. A good portion of the documentary's footage has already been shot and they're currently in the process of trying to raise funds to continue filming and cover editing and production costs. At the time of writing this, the film's kickstarter page has already raised $13,922 out of the $20,000 it needs.

"Arcade will premiere in early 2012, play at festivals throughout the year, and then tour across the country. Then the movie will be made available for TV, online streaming and download." You can show your support for the film by following its twitter or tumblr, liking it on facebook or by making a contribution to their kickstarter page.

This is a film we're looking forward to seeing. What about you? Will you be seeing it when it comes out? How about contributing to them on kickstarter? Let us know in the comments below.
