Bakemonogatari Portable for PSP

Another entry in the growing list of Light Novel to Anime to Game conversions, Bakemonogatari will hop on the bandwagon of PSP games as confirmed by Dengeki Playstation. Very popular for its witty banter and dynamic characters, such as vampires, snails, crabs, snakes, and such, Bakemonogatari PSP will be published by Namco Bandai and will feature 3D character models and scenes from the Bakemonogatari anime (not Nisemonogatari of this season, mind you), along with some form of two player support. Character voice roles are highly likely to be retained from the anime for the game.

Slated to be released on August 23rd by Namco Bandai, one can expect another milking of a popular franchise... probably in a visual novel format with unique gimmicks.

Nayuta no Kiseki: Falcom's Next "Kiseki" Game

Near the end of a quite spectacular year for Falcom, they announced another game in the "Kiseki" series titled Nayuta no Kiseki / 那由多の軌跡. The meaning behind it could be "Trails of Multitude" (well, close to infinity but not exactly infinity), or "Trails of Infinitude"? It's probably conveying a meaning similar to something like that. Not much is stated about it, but it is announced to be released next year on the PSP (no, not PS Vita). At this rate, they're doing yearly projects, and hopefully their quality and mind-blowing plots remain steady. Both Zero no Kiseki and Ao no Kiseki have won multiple game awards such as Playstation 2010's User's Choice Award for Zero no Kiseki and Playstation 2011's User's Choice Award for Ao no Kiseki, along with many more at Tokyo Game Show 2011 (both Future and Game of the Year awards).

Other things mentioned in their 2012 Lineup besides Nayuta no Kiseki are the Playstation Vita ports of Ys Celceta: Sea of Trees and Zero no Kiseki: Full Voice Edition (although it's blurred out, but it was announced prior to the video with a live website here). Nayuta no Kiseki has a large reputation to uphold and quite some hype to deal with.

"Listen to me, girls... I am your Father!" Imagine a certain black armored, black cloaked man wearing a very peculiar helmet, who wields a light saber saying that particular line. Now throw all that out the window because the Protagonist isn't D*rth V*der. "Listen to Me, Girls. I Am Your Father!", that's the actual title, has both an anime coming out in January 2012 and a PSP game release to cater to specific Loli-loving bastards. It's a treat for those Loli-lovers (including me, by the way), and possibly a treat for fanservice hunters everywhere.

It's not often we talk about otome games here, but we do have a considerable amount of people interested in them. For those who have no clue what I'm talking about, an otome game is basically a dating sim from the female perspective. SPOILERS: Bishie sparkles lie ahead.

5bp has released a trailer for their newest game, Beyond the Future: Fix the Time Arrows which they describe as a "maiden adventure with the world view of a a fantasy RPG." (I'd imagine something like the child of Steins;Gate and Final Fantasy.) Players play as Lilith, and like any good RPG, form a party (except this party is probably all hot guys). The twist is rather than checking their stats, you check their Favorability Gauge which is a measure of how close you are to capturing that character's heart.

Considering it's by 5pb, it's definitely going to have a good plot. Check out the trailer below and see if you agree. Beyond the Future: Fix the Time Arrows is scheduled for a December 1st release on the PS3 and PSP in Japan.

(Artist: huke)

First off, I would like to provide some background information for those who do not know much about the Black Rock Shooter series. Black Rock Shooter is a series that all started from an illustration by huke. Ryo from supercell was inspired by the art and proceeded to collaborate with huke to make a music video based on the character, Black Rock Shooter. The music video gained massive popularity and proceeded to spiral into the popular series known to many today. Recently released in Japan was a game based on the series. NIS America, a popular localization company, has acquired the Black Rock Shooter game and will be distributing the game in North America and Europe. No date has been announced as to when the game will be released though.

Author Note: I do not know much about the game since I don’t even have bandwidth to research things (shoutouts to bad Canadian internet provider “Rogers Internet”), but my friend who played the game said it was like Time Crisis in a way. For some other cool facts, characters are voiced by popular seiyuus like Kana Hanazawa and Miyuki Sawashiro.

Prominent localization company Aksys Games has recently picked up Fate/Extra and has stated to be releasing the game sometime this year. Fate/Extra is a RPG game with a plot driven by decisions that the player makes during the story. Players will be able to choose between a male or female character, which affects the events in the plot. The game has multiple endings and many interesting characters. As the protagonist will assume the role of a Master, he/she will be able to choose between the three servants Saber, Archer, or Caster. Fate/Extra’s plot provides opportunities for players to establish relationships with various characters without regards to the gender of the protagonist. This creates amusing situations and a treat for shoujo-ai and shounen-ai fans. One point that fans of the Fate/Stay Night universe should know about is that the story of Fate/Extra is completely unrelated to Fate/Stay Night.

Author’s Note: I heard about this game a while back and was pretty interested in it. Saito Chiwa is doing the voice of Caster (link may contain spoilers), which is a big plus for me. Much love to Aksys Games for localizing some great games.

PSN Downtime Update! It's Still Down...

Day 17 and PSN is still down. So what has happened since then? A lot. And almost none of it is good...

In my last article, Sony had just announced all of the information that was at risk of being stolen. Since then, they have been working non-stop to put out the flames of hatred. Most of it stemming from the six day gap between the attack and finally telling people about the information leak. However, the problems keep piling on.
