Hayate Gets Taiwanese Live Action Adaptaton

The Gala Television Corp., a Taiwanese broadcasting and production company, announced on Tuesday that they're making a live action adaptation of Hayate no Gotoku (Hayate the Combat Butler). The live action will be based on the manga by Kenjirou Hata, which already has 2 anime adaptations. (Season 1 ran 52 episodes. Season 2 ran 25 episodes and had 1 OVA.)
Hayate no Gotoku follows a young boy named Hayate who becomes a young girl's butler to repay his parent's ¥156,804,000 (approx. 1.8 million USD) debt. At first he tries to kidnap her but she mistakes it for a confession of love causing hilarity and misunderstandings to ensue throughout the series. Hayate will be played by 28 year old George Hu and Nagi will be played by 20 year old Korean actress Shin-Hye Park.
Editor's Note: AdminX absolutely loves Hayate and will look forward to watching this... somehow. Uh... time to learn Taiwanese? Also header image source with white balance applied.

Baka Test to Get OVA before Season 2
Excellent news for those of you who couldn't get enough Hideyoshi the first time around, Kadokawa's Shouten Monthly Shounen Ace announced that there will be a Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu OVA some time before the series' second season airs. The second season is scheduled for next year so I predict the OVA will be out in time for the Winter '10 season.

For those unfamiliar with the story, the protagonist Akihisa Yoshii goes to a school with a rigid class system. The school is broken up into classes A through F based on overall test performance. The higher ranking a class is the better its facilities are. Class A has lounge chairsand air conditioners while Yoshii's class, class F has boxes for desks. The school has a battle system that allows students to summon beasts with strength based on their exam grades in order to challenge other classes in a winner takes all type of match. (All being the losing class' facilities usually.)

They hold licenses for a wide variety of anime series including hits like the Dragonball series, Axis Powers Hetalia and Moyashimon. However, their parent company, the Navarre Corporation, has been considering whether or not to sell them since as early as May. Navarre has already classified FUNi as a "discontinued operation", corporate speak for it's ready or approved for potential sale.

Last month, when news broke that a multi-national coalition of Japanese and U.S. publishers had announced plans to combat scanlation in an effort to save their dying industry, many people worried that their favorite manga reading sites would be taken away. Those fears have been realized. OneManga, one of the top ranking sites that host scanlations has announced it will be shutting it's doors in one week. This came as a shock to the internet community and many patrons of the site.

When this piece of "news" hit, one person I talked to commented, "She doesn't need any drugs, she's already a ditz."
