NYCC '12: FUNimation Panel

Written by

The folks over at FUNimation have given us a lot this year. I'm sure a good portion of our readers can attest to that. I'm looking at you, subscribers! At their panel at New York Comic Con this year, they definitely did not disappoint!

Just like the successful return of that mainstay of anime television – Toonami, FUNimation is continuing its dedicated re-release of standout Geneon anime titles! Armitage, Ergo Proxy, Tenchi, Ai Yori Aoshi – these and more titles are slated for release going into next month! They've got new simulcasts joining up with their current line up for this season which includes Psycho Pass, Kamisama Kiss, Jormungand Perfect Order, Robotics;Notes & Code:Breaker!

At the same time, (just in time for the holidays), they have a whole sleigh-full of upcoming BluRay and DVD releases. These include Sengoku Basara (Nov 6), Aria the Scarlet Ammo (Oct 23 - Limited Edition), Hellsing (Ep 1-4 on Oct 30/ Ep 5-8 on Nov 13) and much more! But the really good stuff is still hasn't been announced!

First off - for those who were wanting an even more awesome version of Toriko, your wish has been granted! Starting January 8, 2013, FUNimation will be releasing the ENGLISH DUBBED version of Toriko! Ian Sinclair lends his voice to the titular character in question, while Joshua Grelle voices his partner in culinary crime - Komatsu!

For those who were unable to attend NYCC Saturday and/or Sunday, you missed out on the special premiere screening of the new Mass Effect anime movie - Mass Effect: Paragon Lost! Slated for a Blu-Ray/DVD release December 28, 2012, Paragon Lost is the animated prequel to Mass Effect 3. It follows Alliance Marine James Vega as he and his team face off against The Collectors - a group of aliens hell bent on capturing the populace of an unsuspecting colony for unknown means.

If Mass Effect isn't your cup of tea, then for all you Summer Wars fans, FUNimation has also given tentative news of a 2013 release date of Wolf Children: Ame and Yuki! What makes this news so tentative is that there is a strong possibility (if fan response is strong enough) of a theatrical release of the film. So go out there and give FUNimation your support so you can see Wolf Children on the big screen!
