Saturdays are typically the biggest day at New York Comic Con. This year has yet to show any deviation from this tradition. However, despite the lack of a formal cosplay masquerade, which caused a distinctive lack of cosplay performances, this year's cosplayers were still in full force.  Click through to view highlights of Saturday's events and costumes.

ReedPOP, the organizer of NYCC, has announced that Sean Austin - best known as Lord of the Rings' Samwise Gamgee - will be appearing at the convention to sign autographs and to participate in a Q & A panel. He will be there from Friday, October 12th to Sunday, October 14th. The convention lasts four days this year, starting on Thursday, October 11.

Besides his past work in Lord of the Rings, Sean Austin is due to voice Raphael in Nickelodeon's relaunch of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles this fall.

When I had started going to the convention at Jacob Javitis, it was before NYAF had merged with NYCC and was solely just an anime convention. It use to be crowded full of anime cosplayers getting WAAAAY to into their character and making out in kissing circles. Now after the merger, the anime lovers were banished all the way up to the 4^th floor with a terrible map that pretty much made it very hard to find. Honestly, if this was suppose to be a combination of East meets West, it failed pretty terribly.

Even though I'm not really an anime fan, it felt like a ripoff to put it as a convention for both comic book lovers and anime. There was clearly a favoritism going on here, not that what they did have at the convention wasn't worth the ticket, but it just felt misleading to say that both areas of interest were equally represented.

Besides the ever dying NYAF of NYCC, there were many awesome panels and exhibitors. I was a little disappointed when the Wacom booth did not have their new product, The Inkling, out for testing but yet Autodesk had an artist already using it at their booth. That really threw me for a loop since I've been dying to get a hold of that pen ever since it was announced.

On the subject of artistic endeavors, artist alley have grown since last year with even more artists showing up and selling their wares. The quality of the art has certainly gotten A LOT better both in terms of comic style and anime style. So if your looking for fanart or just beautifully drawn original art, definitely check out artist alley, there is twice the style to look at since each con got their own alley just for art.

Welcome to the first of our many New York Comic Con game previews. This year's con was packed with high profile developers showing off their most anticipated games. One of the most popular booths belonged to Capcom, who brought a playable build of Street Fighter X Tekken, the first game in a two-part crossover series between Capcom and Namco.

It's hard to believe the convention is finally over. While we all had fun, the staff is pretty burnt out. It was great meeting a lot of old friends and hopefully new readers. So without further ado, here is Sunday's cosplay photo gallery. (It's traditional that we release Sunday first. Then follow up with Saturday's cosplay & masquerade galleries since they need more editing time.)

Yen press has announced a whole slew of new releases for their Yen Plus online magazine, and new titles that they’ve acquired for the upcoming year. The first main draw is the new adaptations of two widely popular English young adult novel series into graphic novel form: The Infernal Devices, written by Cassandra Clare and Dark Hunters: Infinity written by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

The Infernal Devices is a prequel of Ms. Clare’s Moral Instruments - a riveting tale about the adventures of American teen Tessa Gray in the supernatural hallows of Victorian London. Dark Hunters: Infinity is also a prequel to the Dark Hunters series. It follows Nick Gautier and his travels into the occult and horrifying within the streets of New Orleans, encountering the Dark Hunter Kyrian of Trace. Both comics will be making their big splash in Yen Plus this fall!

The second draw is the announcement of the addition of the popular Soul Eater Not! series to Yen Plus for 2012. Yen Press also took the opportunity to announce that following the release of the current English issues, Yen Press (in collaboration with the author and publisher) will make Soul Eater Not! a simultaneous release series. As soon as those issues hit the shelves in Japan, all you yen plus subscribers will get you fix of Soul Eater slice-of-life goodness!

Although we're still at New York Comic Con at the time of writing this, it doesn't mean it's been all fun and games. Here's a great selection of photos from Friday. As you will see there is no lack of variety and we even found our annual pedobear shot. From Star Wars to Madoka Magica you're sure to find at least one thing you like!

If you've been aching to get details on Madoka Magica the wait is over. Field correspondent, SolidX, has obtained the much awaited voice cast and release details. The most surprising detail of them all is that yes they will release Madoka on both DVD and BluRay! Read on for more details.

The friendly folks New York Anime Festival (NYAF) and Crunchyroll announced last weeek that renowned annimator and director, Makoto Shinkai, will be at this year's NYAF to present the New York premiere of his latest film Hoshi o Ou Kodomo: Children Who Chase Lost Voices From Deep Below. Shinakai, who's famous for earlier works which include The Voices of A Distant Star and 5 Centimeters per Second, will be on hand for autographs and a Q & A session for his new film.

Children Who Chase Lost Voices From Deep Below premiered in Japan on May 7th and made it's US debut at this year's Otakon in Baltimore, Maryland. In the film, "a girl named Asuna meets a young man called Shun who comes from the faraway land of Agartha. The two quickly become friends, but then -- just as quickly -- Shun disappears. And when Asuna hears the word 'Agartha' again in school as part of a fairytale, she knows adventure and mystery lie ahead."
