It's been 9 months since we first reported on a 3rd season of Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu and 3 years since the last installement of the anime which is based on a series of light novels. Since then we haven't heard a peep about the subject until now. The official Dengeki website has announced that the series will be concluded as 4 OVAs which will release 1 month apart from each other. The OVAs, entitled Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu Finale♪, don't have a release date as of yet but plan to cover the climax of the series. Presumably this means a confession and happy ending for the protagonist and the series' closeted-otaku namesake.
An ad for the Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu light novels has announced that there will be a third anime adaptation of the series. The new adaptation will cover the story leading up to the final arc of the light novel series. The series inspired two other anime adaptations, Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu in 2008 and Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu: Purezza in 2009. The light novel series is currently on it's 14th and penultimate volume.
The basic premise of the series is pretty simple. There are a lot of otakus out there and there are also a lot of girls out there. But what if the hottest girl in your school was a closet otaku and you were the only one who knew her secret? The story follows a boy named Yuuto who discovers this startling secret and what he goes through trying to protect it.
